Transition Time Activities
Math
In
As we are getting back from a short break and transitioning into math, students should begin writing in their math journals. There will be a question on the board for them to answer. Their answers should be about a paragraph long.

Out
As we're finishing up with math, students should write down one question in their math journals. This question can be used to clarify understanding or explore the topic in further depth. They can expect to receive answers the next day.

Independent Reading
In
Students should review their summary from the previous reading time and write down a hypothesis in their reading journals.

Out
Students should read their hypothesis and comment on how true it turned out to be. They should also write a paragraph summarizing what actually happened in their story.

Writing
In
Students should read through the portion of what they've written so far and use the brainstorming section of their writing books to jot down ideas they have for continuing their stories.

Out
Students should read through their stories again and make any necessary grammatical or sentence structure corrections.
|
Science & Social Studies
In
Students should read through the main points that they wrote down after our last lesson and make a hypothesis of what they think we will be talking about today.

Out
Students should write down two or three main points from the lesson, one thing that they already knew that our lesson reminded them about, and one clarifying or extension question they have.

Devotions
In
Students should read their entry from the last devotional time and comment on how easy or hard it was to do what they felt encouraged to do, and how diligent they were at doing it.

Out
Students should write down one thing that the devotion encouraged them to do today. Then, they should list some practical steps that they can take to make the change happen.
