Staff Communication
In order to be the best teacher I can be, I know I will need to communicate not only with my students' parents, but also with my colleagues and my principal.
My Colleagues
As a new teacher, I know that I will be working with many other teachers who, like my parents, have had many years of rich experiences as an educator. To learn all I can from them, I will extend friendship to them inside and outside of school. I will seek out meaningful relationships with other staff members, and hope to grow closer to them as a person. When that happens, I predict that the exchange of ideas will become natural and easy. As friends, my colleagues and I will be able to share what's worked and what hasn't worked in our classrooms, and we'll be able to learn from each other. In addition to that, we will be able to work together to create the best lesson plans possible and serve our students to the best of our abilities.
My Principal
It's exciting to have a principal who is there to serve the school, including the teachers at the school. In regards to communication with my principal, I am anticipating that it will be mostly the bigger things that get communicated to him/her. Whereas I will tell my colleagues and parents much of what happens in my classroom, I will probably reserve communication with my principal for the matters that are most important. That being said, I plan on making sure to tell my principal about matters that are important. I hope that in the first few weeks of teaching, my colleagues will help me determine what information to pass on and what information doesn't really matter.
